LUCKNOW, Sept. 19 -- The reading room at the Lucknow University's Tagore Library, which remained closed for more than a year for extensive renovation and maintenance, is set to reopen on Saturday, the university announced on Friday. Keeping academic needs and convenience of the student body in mind, Lucknow University vice-chancellor Prof JP Saini issued strict directions to the concerned officials to expedite the restoration work. Following the directions, the work was fast-tracked to reopen the reading room at the earliest. The renovation addressed structural and environmental issues in the library. Wall tiles were installed to eliminate moisture and dampness, while damaged flooring was replaced with new tiles. Additionally, defunct desk lighting and faulty ceiling fans were repaired or replaced, along with full interior painting and other maintenance work. "The structural and aesthetic improvements have made the reading room cleaner, better-organised, and more conducive to quiet study and academic work. The project was completed early in large part due to the active supervision and sustained efforts of Honorary Librarian Prof Roli Mishra. The reading room will now resume regular operations, providing an important resource for students preparing for upcoming examinations and pursuing advanced research," Saini said....
