LU expels one student, cancels admit cards of three over indiscipline
LUCKNOW, June 12 -- In two major disciplinary actions, Lucknow University (LU) on Thursday expelled an LLM student and cancelled the admit cards of three other expelled students, citing violations of campus discipline and obstruction of administrative work.
LLM student Satyam Yadav was expelled and barred from seeking admission in the university or any affiliated college in future. The action was taken on the recommendations of the registrar and dean (student welfare) following a report submitted by the board of deans on June 8.
The order noted that Yadav had earlier been suspended for conduct unbecoming of a student.
According to the university, Yadav entered the second campus and Homi Jehangir Bhabha Hostel without authorisation on May 21, when a Bar Council of India inspection team was visiting.
He allegedly tried to disrupt the inspection and spread misleading information against the administration on social media, affecting peace and obstructing official work.
The order also referred to a WhatsApp message sent by him on February 19 in which he allegedly threatened self-immolation if denied justice.
On the same day, he and 10-15 others allegedly scaled the boundary wall of Subhash Hostel. He was also accused of using unparliamentary language during a meeting with the chief conservator on August 19.
In a separate order, the controller of examinations cancelled the provisional admit cards of expelled students Prem Prakash Yadav, Shashi Prakash and Harshit Shukla.
The trio had been accused of obstructing the vice-chancellor's movement and attempting to damage his vehicle during a protest against fee hikes on April 28. They were subsequently suspended, booked and later expelled....
