LU expels five Subhash Hostel inmates
LUCKNOW, Sept. 11 -- Lucknow University has expelled five students of Subhash Hostel and cancelled their room allotments for alleged violation of student code of conduct and for misbehaviour with staff on August 31.
According to an office order dated September 9, an FIR was lodged at Hasanganj police station under 191(2) (Rioting), 115(2) (Voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (Intentional insult to provoke breach of public peace) and 351(3) (Criminal intimidation with threat to cause death/grievous hurt). The accused failed to give a satisfactory explanation and were found guilty by the inquiry committee, said the office order.
The expelled students have been debarred from all university facilities and banned from entering campus till further orders.
Another student Shivaji Yadav, MA Hindi 2nd year, whose suspension order dated January 9, 2023 is still in force, is also under scanner. The five have been asked to submit written clarification within 3 days failing which ex-parte action will be taken, said registrar.
Students raised infrastructure and safety issues at the law faculty. They said an untoward incident could happen anytime, but authorities have failed to act. Student leader Aditya Pandey said the administration collects increased fees but fails to provide a safe academic environment in return. "VC J P Saini must immediately inspect the law faculty. Safety, basic facilities and arrangements must be improved without delay," Pandey said....
