Lord Kedarnath's 'Doli' begins journey from Rudraprayag
Mussoorie, April 20 -- The sacred journey of Lord Kedarnath's Panchmukhi Chal Vigrah Utsav Doli (palanquin) commenced from the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath in Rudraprayag district on Sunday. The procession began its journey towards Kedarnath Temple, whose portals are scheduled to open on April 22.Before departure, the palanquin completed a ceremonial circumambulation of the temple complex, the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath. A large number of devotees showered flower petals on the procession, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere.
The Omkareshwar Temple complex was decorated with around 800 kilograms of flowers. In keeping with traditional customs, special worship of Bhairav Nath was performed on Saturday night. On April 20 (today), the Doli will proceed to Gaurikund for an overnight stay at the Gauri Mai Temple. The following day, April 21, the palanquin will complete the final leg of the trek to Kedarnath Temple, where it will be placed in the temple granary ahead of the ceremonial opening.
