LUCKNOW, May 26 -- La Martiniere College students Ashwin Chauhan and Devansh Vij secured spots in the pre-quarterfinals of the boys' singles main draw at the AITA CS-7 (Under-18) Tennis Tournament, displaying excellent form on their home courts here on Monday. During these matches, top seed Faiz Kidwai, third seed Mehar Khosla, fourth seed Vanshraj Jalota, and fifth seed Ankit of Telangana also advanced to the next round with victories. Chauhan, who hails from Uttarakhand defeated Aman Singh of Bihar in a three-set battle 6-1, 4-6, 10-8 in a super tie-breaker during the third set. Devansh Vij registered a straight-sets victory over Adamya Singh, winning 6-2, 6-0. Top seed Faiz Kidwai defeated Shaurya Bisht of Uttarakhand 6-0, 6-0, while third seed Mehar Khosla defeated Akshat Tyagi 6-1, 6-3. Besides this, fourth seed Vanshraj Jalota defeated Shaurya Singh 6-1, 6-1. On the other hand, Ankit of Telangana secured a spot in the next round by defeating Nilotpal Singh 6-1, 6-0. Ariz defeated Amartya Chaudhary 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 in a super tie-breaker. Maharashtra's Nipun Chauhan registered a victory against Abhiuday Singh in a super tie-breaker, winning 2-6, 7-5, 10-4. In other matches, Satvik Gupta defeated Samarth Bhatnagar 6-0, 6-2, Aditya Vaibhav defeated Vishesh Shukla 6-2, 6-0, Rohin Raj defeated Arjun Sharma 6-3, 6-0 and Rishant Jaiswal defeated Bihar's Akashdeep Prasad 6-1, 6-1. On the other hand, Virat Singh defeated Ekagra Singh 6-1, 6-0, Dhruv Singh defeated Manan Kapoor 6-0, 6-0, Pranav Sharma defeated Harsh Vardhan Singh 6-3, 6-2 and Anuruddh Kumar defeated Ekansh Chandra 6-0, 6-0. Lucknow's Shrishti Dhaon and her daughter Elakshi Rathod hogged the limelight in the 21st Governor's Cup Golf Tournament at the Nainital's scenic Lok Bhawan Golf Course. Whereas Shrishti emerged victorious in the ladies section, Elakshi was named youngest player of the tournament. The three-day event, inaugurated by Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), drew strong participation and celebrated golf across multiple age groups and categories. A total of 179 golfers took part in the tournament, making it one of the most well-attended editions in recent years. The field included 110 players in the general category, along with junior golfers, women participants, veterans, and super-veterans.
