LUCKNOW, July 18 -- The Lucknow district administration has uncovered serious irregularities in the disposal of public grievances by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) and several other departments after verifying feedback received from complainants. An inquiry found that several complaints lodged through the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) were disposed of without adequate action or valid justification. In a number of cases, officials allegedly submitted misleading reports to show complaints as resolved even though the grievances remained unaddressed. Taking serious note of the findings, district magistrate Vishakh G has written to the Municipal Corporation and the departments concerned, stating that disposing of complaints on inadequate or unjustified grounds is unacceptable. He directed officials to ensure proper field verification, factual reporting and effective action before closing any complaint. The inquiry highlighted deficiencies in the grievance redressal mechanism, finding that several cases were closed without satisfactory resolution. The district administration has asked all departments to tighten scrutiny of IGRS complaints and ensure that disposal reports accurately reflect the action taken on the ground.
