LUCKNOW, Aug. 1 -- The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) intensified its anti-encroachment and sanitation drive across the city on Friday, removing illegal roadside structures, clearing encroachments by meat and poultry shops, and penalising violators for littering and using banned polythene. The major action was carried out in Zone-5, where civic teams removed eight roadside carts, three kiosks and three illegal counters along Hardoi Road to Vikram Nagar Bridge. Officials also seized encroached materials and recovered Rs 6,000 as compounding charges for encroachment, littering and banned plastic violations. In Zone-8, LMC removed illegal meat and poultry shops operating on public land between Telibagh Crossing and Sector-5, seizing poultry cages, knives, cleavers and other equipment.
