Lko: 8 power consumers caught in crackdown
Lucknow, July 21 -- The enforcement teams of Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration carried out surprise raids that exposed eight cases of power theft in two major distribution zones of city.
The crackdown targeted suspected theft hotspots in Gomti Nagar and Amausi circles.
In Gomti Nagar zone, the raid team launched a surprise inspection in Semra and Shahpur under Chinhat substation. Of 36 premises inspected, five consumers were found allegedly drawing power illegally, with a combined unauthorised connected load of 18.963 kW. Departmental action has been initiated against offenders under provisions of Electricity Act.
Simultaneously, another enforcement team raided pre-identified feeders under the Dubagga substation in the Amausi zone. During the inspection of 35 electricity connections, officials detected three consumers allegedly bypassing electricity meters to steal power. The cases involved an unauthorised connected load of 6.575 kW.
Officials said FIRs have been lodged under Section 135 of the Electricity Act against all three consumers caught in the Amausi operation, while legal proceedings have also been initiated against those booked in the Gomti Nagar raid. htc...
