LUCKNOW, Jan. 20 -- A dispute over charges of irrigation water led to a 30-year-old farmer dying after coming in contact with a live electric wire illegally installed around a field. Police have arrested the tubewell owner, Asharfi Lal, 50, while his 16-year-old son has been taken into protective custody for their alleged role in concealing the death and dumping the body in a nearby forest. The deceased, Rajendra Rawat, a resident of Sahijanpur village, had left home on January 15 around 9 am to irrigate his wheat field. When he failed to return, his family launched a search and found his body the next day in the dense Amawa forest, raising suspicions. "Initially, no clear cause of death was evident. However, the post-mortem examination confirmed electrocution, prompting police to register an FIR under Section 105 of the BNS against Asharfi Lal and others.
