LUCKNOW, May 26 -- A literary conference and felicitation ceremony was organised under the joint aegis of Ekagrata International Foundation and Shrikant Verma Trust on the death anniversary of noted litterateur Shrikant Verma. The event was attended by Danish Azad Ansari, UP minister of state for minority welfare, Muslim waqf and haj, as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said Shrikant Verma was among the leading poets, storytellers and journalists of the "Nayi Kavita" movement in Hindi literature. He added that Verma used historical myths and modern realities in his writings to highlight conflicts of power, human ambition and contemporary politics. State Information Commissioner Dilip Agnihotri, who attended as special guest, said Verma's poems strongly criticised the harsh ambitions of politics and power during his time. HTC...
