Lucknow, Oct. 5 -- The Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (LESA) is planning to redesign and upgrade power infrastructure in chronically waterlogged areas of Daud Nagar and Faizullaganj, where flooding has repeatedly forced precautionary shutdowns of electricity supply. The proposed measures include raising transformers on high platforms, shifting vulnerable electrical infrastructure and laying underground cables to reduce the risk of electrocution and prolonged power outages during floods. The immediate concern is in Faizullaganj, where waterlogging around power infrastructure has already prompted LESA to disconnect supply from six transformers in flood-affected areas. The affected transformers include those serving Neelkanth, New Madrasa, Mishra Office and Patang Maidan, with capacities ranging from 100 kVA to 630 kVA. The population of around 70000 is affected with the shutdown. LESA chief engineer VP Singh said ,"The power supply to these transformers will be restored only after the water level recedes sufficiently to ensure that energising the equipment does not pose a safety risk."...
