LDA to seek Rs.26.14Lfrom building owners as razing charges
LUCKNOW, July 31 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has decided to recover Rs.26.14 lakh as demolition charges from the owners of the illegal commercial building in Aliganj that was demolished after a devastating fire there claimed 15 lives on June 22.
In an official statement, the LDA said it has prepared a recovery notice for Rs.26,14,212. Officials will serve the notice on building owners and initiate legal proceedings if they fail to pay the demolition charges.
Officials said the amount covers the entire expenditure incurred during the demolition and debris removal operation, including deployment of heavy earth movers, dumpers, labour, security personnel, etc.
The illegal building in Sector-D, Aliganj, owned by Virendra Shukla, Surendra Shukla and others, was demolished on July 25 following orders of the competent authority. LDA zonal officer Madhavesh Kumar said the authority had already informed the owners through the demolition notice that the cost of removing the illegal structure would be recovered from them.....
