LUCKNOW, Sept. 1 -- Three of the seven proposed grand entry gates planned for Lucknow will greet visitors with distinct cultural symbols associated with the destinations along the routes -a 'Chakra' at 'Vyas Dwar' on Sitapur road towards Naimisharanya, a 'Trishul' at 'Ganga Dwar' on Sultanpur road towards Varanasi and a peacock feather at 'Krishna Dwar' on the Agra Expressway towards Mathura. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has finalised the designs and completed the tender process for these three gates, although construction is yet to begin, officials said. The UP government proposed seven grand ceremonial entry gates for Lucknow after chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to work on the project on January 30 earlier this year. LDA is spending around Rs 3.5 crore on each gate. LDA chief engineer Manvendra Singh said the three gateways would use modern architecture while reflecting the cultural character of the destinations connected by their respective corridors. The LDA plans to make the three gateways distinctive through their structural design. Singh said the authority would construct the gates without conventional beams and instead use designer pillars with modern architectural elements which would improve their overall look. "Three gates have been finalised and the tender process has been completed. Work is yet to begin, while the remaining gates are still being finalised," Singh said....
