LDA seeks building plans, fire NOCs from 29 hotels
LUCKNOW, June 7 -- As part of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and the fire department's citywide verification drive to identify fire safety violations in hotels, restaurants and high-rise buildings, authorities have sought approved building plans and fire NOCs from 29 hotels and warned of action against establishments found violating safety norms, an LDA press release stated on Saturday.
The move follows the June 3 Delhi hotel fire that claimed 21 lives.
Enforcement teams will now compare on-ground findings with the submitted documents to detect unauthorized constructions, deviations from sanctioned maps and fire safety lapses. "Any discrepancy found during verification will invite action as per rules," officials said.
Acting on LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar's directions, joint teams of enforcement and fire officials inspected hotels and restaurants operating in multi-storey buildings across the city on Saturday. Officials checked whether the structures matched their sanctioned maps and whether mandatory fire-fighting equipment and emergency safety systems were functional.
The inspections covered several prominent hotels in Vibhuti Khand, along with Hazratganj and other localities. Teams also conducted checks at hotels in Chinhat, Ayodhya Road and Indira Nagar.

Senior officials assured RWAs that the authority would conduct safety audits and mock drills in residential complexes and expedite the issuance of pending certificates.
An LDA official said that the drive marks one of the most extensive post-incident fire safety reviews in Lucknow and signals a shift from document-based approvals to physical verification. Officials said the objective is to prevent a Delhi-like tragedy by identifying safety gaps before they lead to an emergency.
LDA vice-chairman Prathamesh Kumar said the authority would continue inspections across the city and ensure strict compliance with fire safety norms in both commercial and residential buildings....
