LUCKNOW, June 21 -- Lucknowites will soon have an opportunity to enjoy water, land and air-based adventure activities on the Gomti riverfront as the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has initiated the process to develop an adventure sports hub near the Gaus Mohammad Cricket Stadium under the public-private partnership model. The authority floated a request for proposal (RFP) for the facility's development and operation and expects work to commence within the next six months after finalising the bids, confirmed LDA chief engineer Manvendra Singh on Saturday. Senior LDA officials said the project aims to add a new attraction to the Gomti riverfront and boost recreational tourism in the city. According to officials, the selected concessionaire will pay the authority an annual amount of Rs 23.16 lakh. A private operator will develop and manage the project, while the LDA will oversee implementation. An important feature of the project is that the authority plans to keep charges affordable to ensure a larger section of residents can use the facilities. Officials said the rates for various activities would be determined after the project is awarded and finalised. Under the tender conditions, the bidder will have to develop at least three activities from each category and a minimum of 12 activities in total. The land-based category includes attractions such as land zorbing, bungee trampoline, all-terrain vehicles (ATV), go-karting, mechanical bull rides, etc....
