LUCKNOW, May 25 -- The launch of the Lucknow Development Authority's (LDA) ambitious Varun Vihar housing scheme, under which registrations for around 2,100 residential plots were proposed to begin in early June, is likely to be delayed due to pending UP RERA (Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority) approval and slow progress in infrastructure-related work, officials said on Sunday. LDA vice chairman Prathamesh Kumar said the authority now expects the launch to shift to the last week of June or the first week of July. Earlier, the scheme was scheduled to be launched by mid-June. "We expect the launch to shift to the last week of June or the first week of July as the RERA approval is awaited to launch the scheme," Kumar said. The proposed registrations are planned for plots in Kailash Khand and Kashi Khand sectors of the project. Spread across 2,664 hectares along the Agra Expressway, Varun Vihar is among the largest residential projects being developed by LDA to expand housing infrastructure in Lucknow. Officials said the authority has initiated the tendering process for roads, drains and sewer-related works in the project area. While work orders for some infrastructure components have already been issued, tenders for major road construction are still under process. An official, requesting anonymity, said delays in architectural planning have affected the pace of execution work.
