LUCKNOW, May 5 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has reduced the financial burden on homebuyers by revising the payment structure of its Atal Nagar affordable housing scheme, offering a longer repayment tenure and lower interest rates. The move is expected to boost demand for unsold flats and accelerate registrations, stated in a LDA official press release on Monday. The Authority announced that buyers can now pay for flats in 120 monthly installments over 10 years, instead of the earlier 84 installments over seven years. The authority has also reduced the annual interest rate from 9% to 7%. Officials implemented the revised provisions with immediate effect following repeated demands from applicants. Earlier, a 1BHK flat attracted a monthly EMI of around Rs 15,000, which many applicants found difficult to manage. Under the revised plan, the EMI has dropped to approximately Rs 10,767, reducing the monthly burden by nearly Rs 4,000. The Atal Nagar scheme, located in Devpur Para, comprises 2,496 flats across 15 towers ranging from 12 to 19 floors. The flats, measuring between 30 sq m and 54.95 sq m, are priced from Rs 9.83 lakh onwards. While LDA has already allotted most units through a lottery system, it has opened registrations for 630 flats 539-1BHK and 91-2BHK units from April 18 to May 17, 2026. Officials said the authority aims to improve occupancy and attract more buyers through these relaxations. The scheme offers basic amenities, including water and power supply, lifts, power backup, security, green areas, and parking. The response has picked up pace after the revision. In the past 15 days, 2,108 applicants purchased registration booklets, and 642 completed online registrations. Officials expect the revised policy to increase participation further and help more families secure affordable housing in the state capital....
