LUCKNOW, Oct. 8 -- The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) stopped floodwaters from entering Gomti Nagar Extension's Sector 7 after the rising river caused water to flow towards the area from behind Ekana Stadium. The authority had deployed officials round the clock since October 5 to monitor vulnerable locations as the river level continued to rise. On October 6, the monitoring team alerted senior officials after water began overflowing at points behind Ekana. An LDA team reached the spot and launched emergency measures. Engineers placed boulders and soil at the entry point to create a temporary blockade and stopped the fresh flow into the scheme area. The authority said it brought the situation under control within around 2.5 hours.htc...
