Lucknow, Oct. 2 -- A group of lawyers staged a protest outside the Awadh bus stand near Kamta crossing on Thursday evening, alleging that police personnel assaulted one of their colleagues, leading to a traffic disruption on the Ayodhya-Lucknow route. Police personnel reached the spot to pacify the protesters. Youth Bar Association president Himanshu Pathak alleged that personnel from Vibhuti Khand police station picked up some lawyers from near a traffic police booth and took them to the police station. Himanshu Pathak also accused a policeman of physically abusing one of the lawyers. Vibhuti Khand station house officer Upendra Singh denied the allegations, saying some people were allegedly facilitating unauthorised operation of vehicles and that a vehicle obstructing traffic was seized after its documents were not produced. htc...
