Lucknow, Aug. 7 -- The last rites of Harikishan Mittal, father of Uttar Pradesh director general of police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna, was held at Baikunth Dham in Lucknow on Thursday in the presence of family members, senior government functionaries, police officers and political leaders. Mittal, a retired chief engineer of the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department, passed away on Wednesday. Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak visited Baikunth Dham during the cremation and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family. Earlier in the day, Union minister of state and Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Pankaj Chaudhary visited the family's residence in Ashiyana to offer his condolences to the family members. He expressed solidarity with the family and prayed for the departed soul. Several senior officers of the Uttar Pradesh Police, members of the civil administration, and public representatives also visited the residence and the cremation ground to pay their respects.
