LUCKNOW, Aug. 7 -- A comprehensive restoration and conservation plan is being prepared for the historic Lal Baradari building and the State Lalit Kala Akademi premises. As a protected heritage site, the project aims to enhance the complex's aesthetic appeal while preserving its original architectural character. Akademi director Shraddha Shukla said that as the building is a protected heritage structure, no new construction will be undertaken. Instead, restoration work will be carried out using traditional Lakhori bricks and classical architectural techniques. "Under the conservation plan, modern display stands and cases will be installed to preserve and showcase valuable paintings and artworks. The Akademi's rich library will also be renovated, while a cafeteria is proposed within the complex for visitors. Security will be strengthened with additional guards and a fully equipped guard room for round-the-clock deployment," Shukla said. To ensure uninterrupted academic activities, separate movement routes will be designated for students attending regular art and hobby classes and gallery visitors. Preliminary presentations and expert suggestions are currently being reviewed to finalise the Detailed Project Report (DPR), following which the tender process will begin, Shukla said.
