Kanpur, June 3 -- The family of a 16-year-old boy whose body was recovered from Panki canal on Monday has accused police of failing to act on time despite his smartwatch showing his location hours after he went missing. Anubhav Shukla, a Class 10 student, left his home in Ratnapur Colony around 10.30 am on Sunday to collect a book from a teacher's house. He returned after finding teacher's son absent but never reached home. As the family searched for him, clothes believed to belong to Anubhav were found near a Chhath Puja site along the canal. CCTV footage reportedly showed him walking towards the canal. Police launched a search operation but could not trace him. The family alleged that Anubhav's smartwatch continued to transmit his location and that repeated requests to intensify search were ignored. On Monday morning, Anubhav's body was recovered from canal, around 1.5 km from where his belongings were found. The recovery triggered protests by kin and residents, who alleged murder and police negligence. Additional DCP (West) Rajesh Pandey denied the allegations, saying police acted promptly, deployed an SDRF team and registered a murder case. htc...
