India, June 27 -- A ctor Shah Rukh Khan celebrated 34 years in Bollywood with a homecoming of sorts on Thursday, returning to Mangalore, the city where he spent the first five years of his life. As the milestone coincided with the anniversary of his debut film Deewana (1992), the evening became as much about nostalgia as it was about the superstar's enduring charisma. Invited to the Karnataka city for an event hosted by a real estate group, Shah Rukh was welcomed by thousands of cheering fans. Greeting them with a warm "namaskara" in Kannada, he said, "Thank you, Mangalore! First of all, when I was coming here, I didn't know what to expect. But the warmth, love, goodness and excitement, right from the airport to the drive down here, amidst all you people, felt great." He also recalled living in the city with his grandfather, Ifthikar Ahmed, before moving away. The actor then did what only Shah Rukh can, turning a corporate event into a full-blown fan celebration.
