LAKHIMPUR KHERI, May 24 -- After committing a crime in Kheri, fleeing to neighbouring districts or across the border into Nepal will no longer serve as an easy escape route for criminals. To curb such cross-border escapes, Kheri police have introduced a comprehensive "District Border Sealing Plan" following an extensive survey of all district boundaries and connecting routes. Kheri senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dr Khyati Garg said the tactical security measure ensures that all exit routes from the district can be sealed within minutes of any reported crime, effectively preventing offenders from fleeing to neighbouring districts. In a significant strategic policing initiative, Garg meticulously surveyed the escape routes along Kheri's borders and prepared a detailed list of 80 such exit points. Dr Garg said a follow-up exercise was conducted to record the exact distance and estimated response time from the concerned local police stations to each of the 80 exit points. She added, "Based on this study, a well-organised standard operating procedure (SOP) was finalised to ensure that response teams reach the designated spots within the stipulated timeframe, leaving no room for criminals to slip through." Under the direct supervision of the Kheri SSP, these 80 strategic border exit points will enable immediate surprise checks and swift police action. The initiative is expected to curb inter-district criminal activities, prevent criminals from fleeing after committing offences in Kheri, and ensure a rapid police response following any untoward incident....
