LUCKNOW, Aug. 4 -- A five-storey hydraulic parking facility built at a cost of around Rs.13 crore behind the Lari Cardiology Department at King George's Medical University (KGMU) is set to become operational this month, nearly eight years after it was constructed. Built in 2018 with a capacity to park 80 vehicles, the automated parking facility was originally intended for doctors and staff but remained unused after its inauguration. Years of disuse damaged its hydraulic machinery, while an inspection found that several key components had been stolen. The KGMU administration has now initiated restoration work. Engineers have estimated the repair and replacement cost at around Rs.10 lakh, and work is currently underway. KGMU spokesperson Prof KK Singh said the repair work is progressing rapidly and the parking facility will be fully operational within this month.
