KGMU corruption probes continue; scrutiny of records in 3 depts completed
LUCKNOW, June 27 -- The investigations into alleged irregularities across more than seven departments at King George's Medical University (KGMU) are still underway, with inquiries in the medical oncology and radiotherapy departments yet to be completed. However, scrutiny of records in three departments has been completed so far.
KGMU spokesperson, Prof KK Singh said the probe is progressing, but declined to disclose specific details to avoid compromising the ongoing investigation.
"The inquiry into the medical oncology and radiotherapy departments is still underway. Employees involved in corruption will not be spared at any cost. However, details of the probe cannot be shared at this stage as it may affect the investigation," Prof Singh said.
According to KGMU officials, documents and records have already been sought from the two departments where investigations are still in progress.
Officials said scrutiny of records in the endocrine surgery, gastro surgery and general surgery departments has been completed, with documents found to be in order and no discrepancies reported during the examination.
Meanwhile, action is awaited on the interim inquiry report submitted to the three member committee constituted by the state government regarding alleged irregularities in the urology and ophthalmology departments.
The inquiry at the Lari cardiology department also concluded that patient care was prioritised over procedural norms wherever required.
Investigators further found justified the treatment of a patient who received five stents under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, concluding that the intervention was medically warranted and in accordance with clinical requirements.
