KGMU: Fresh concerns over 'touts' after patient diverted
LUCKNOW, June 19 -- A patient was allegedly lured from the King George's Medical University (KGMU) Trauma Centre after attendants were told that no bed was available, raising fresh concerns over the presence of touts on the campus.
Shambhu Dayal, a resident of Hardoi, was brought to the Trauma Centre late on Wednesday night in a critical condition with breathing difficulties, abdominal bloating and mobility issues.
According to his family, after they were informed that no bed was available, some individuals approached them inside the complex, assured them of better treat-ment at a lower cost and persuaded them to shift the patient to a private hospital in Thakurganj.
The incident came to light after a video purportedly showing the episode went viral on social media, prompting the KGMU administration to order an inquiry.
KGMU spokesperson Prof KK Singh said the matter would be investigated on the basis of the viral video.
The administration also urged patients and attendants to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to touts operating around the hospital premises. HTC...
