Key accused in Bareilly riots arms supply held in Uttarakhand
Rudrapur, May 22 -- Uttar Pradesh police have arrested a wanted accused in connection with the Bareilly riots from Kichha, who had been absconding since his name surfaced in a case related to the alleged supply of illegal weapons used during the riots, officials said on Wednesday.
According to Circle Officer of Police Kiccha Arun Kumar, two accused, Farhat Ali and Ishrat Ali, linked to the gang were arrested by Baheri police in February. During interrogation, they allegedly revealed that weapons used in the riots were supplied by their network.
Following these disclosures, police registered an FIR against six accused persons. While five were arrested earlier, one accused, Gaffar Khan, was on the run.
He was later traced and arrested from a salon on Rudrapur road in Kichha after sustained surveillance and intelligence inputs on Wednesday. Bareilly riots erupted on September 26, 2025, when the accused allegedly supplied weapons. htc...
