Kaushambi Medical College: photo leak spurs privacy outrage
PRAYAGRAJ, April 30 -- A controversy has erupted at the autonomous state medical college in Kaushambi after alleged photographs of a woman patient's intimate surgical procedure were circulated, violating medical ethics and patient privacy.
According to reports, images from a surgery performed on a female patient were shared publicly after allegedly being released through the district information office and subsequently circulated on social media. The photographs allegedly show the patient's private body parts during the procedure, and in some images, her face is also visible.
Following the incident, the medical college administration has taken immediate action against a fourth-grade employee, who is alleged to have taken the photographs in the operation theatre. The employee has been removed from OT duties.
Principal of the medical college Dr Hariom Kumar Singh acknowledged the incident as a "major mistake" and said further disciplinary action would be taken.
State Women's Commission member Pratibha Kushwaha strongly condemned the incident, stating that it is unacceptable for a medical institution to violate an individual's privacy in such a manner....
