PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 23 -- A young man and a woman were allegedly tied to a pole and assaulted by the woman's family members in a village under Saini police station in Kaushambi after the two were reportedly found together at her house on August 17. A video allegedly showing the incident later surfaced on social media. According to a local resident, he married the woman from the Kada Dham area on April 18, 2024. He alleged that she had been in a relationship with a man from Ahmadganj village before their marriage and that the two remained in contact over the phone. He further alleged that the man would visit the house in his absence. The husband claimed that on the night of August 17, his wife again invited the man to the house. Family members, acting on suspicion, allegedly opened the room and found the two together. The relatives then allegedly tied them to a pole and assaulted them. The man and woman were later handed over to the Sirathu police outpost. The husband claimed that his wife submitted written statements at the outpost and police station, saying she did not want to live with him. He said she was also unwilling to accompany the other man or return to her parental home. The husband also submitted a complaint to Kaushambi superintendent of police (SP) Satyanarayan Prajapat.
