Kaushambi: 11-yr-old boy injured in celebratory firing
PRAYAGRAJ, May 11 -- An 11-year-old boy was injured after a celebratory firing incident during a tilak ceremony in Nevari village of Kaushambi district on the night of May 9, police said.
The injured boy, identified as Priyanshu, son of Shivpoojan and a resident of Barai village under Sarai Akil police station limits, had gone with his family to attend a relative's function in Nevari village under the Karari police station area.
According to police, some people allegedly opened fire in the air during the celebrations when one of the bullets struck the child. The incident created panic at the venue and family members immediately rushed the boy to the district hospital.
Doctors treated Priyanshu for minor injuries and later discharged him after declaring him out of danger.
DSP Manjhanpur Shivank Singh directed Karari SHO Sanjay Kumar Singh to investigate the matter. Police seized the double-barrel breech-loading (DBBL) gun allegedly used in the firing.
Based on a complaint filed by the child's father, police registered a case and took the accused, Bhagwat Prasad of Rasulpur Soni village, into custody.
Police have also started proceedings to cancel the arms licence linked to the weapon used in the incident. htc...
