Kashi DM orders CCTV cameras at flood relief camps, round-the-clock vigil
VARANASI, Sept. 2 -- District magistrate Satyendra Kumar on Tuesday ordered the installation of CCTV cameras at the flood relief camps to strengthen security.
The DM, along with police commissioner Mohit Agrawal, toured the flood-affected areas along the Ganga and Varuna rivers after boarding an NDRF boat from Namo Ghat. They assessed the situation and interacted with local residents to take stock of the facilities being provided. The officials assured residents that the administration stood firmly with them during the natural disaster.
During the inspection, the officials set out from Adi Keshav Ghat, and surveyed several flood-affected areas, including Salarpur, Saraiya, Konia, Pul Kohna, Dhelvaria and Sarai Mohana, by boat. They assessed the water levels, extent of waterlogging in riverside localities and the condition of the affected population on the spot.
The DM directed officials to remain on high alert in view of the flood situation and ordered continuous monitoring of the affected areas.
He instructed them to ensure adequate arrangements for the immediate evacuation of residents to safer locations, if required.
Police commissioner Mohit Agrawal directed police and NDRF teams to maintain constant vigilance in flood-affected areas and respond promptly to any emergency. He also urged residents living along the riverbanks to remain cautious and follow the safety guidelineshtc...
