PRAYAGRAJ, April 28 -- Police have taken a juvenile into custody in connection with the rape and murder of a woman whose body was found hanging from a tree in a mango orchard under the Manikpur police station area of Pratapgarh. The accused, who allegedly committed the crime along with accomplices, will be sent to a juvenile reform home after completion of legal formalities.
The incident came to light after the woman, a resident of a village in the Manikpur area, went missing on Saturday night while she was sleeping on the veranda of her house. On Sunday morning, her body was found hanging from a tree in a nearby orchard, around 200 metres from her home. Initial examination revealed signs of a violent assault.
