Meerut, Aug. 19 -- Muzaffarnagar additional district and sessions judge and Fast Track Court-3 judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar has raised concerns over his security arrangements after his security personnel was allegedly changed without his permission and the replacement guard remained absent from duty at his residence for more than a month without informing him. Judge Diwakar has written to the DGP, the Muzaffarnagar district judge and the SSP, seeking action over the alleged lapse. He has also issued a notice to the reserve inspector (RI) of the Reserve Police Lines, questioning the handling of his security. According to the judge's letter, his security personnel was changed without obtaining his permission. The replacement guard, Ravindra Singh Thakurela, was deployed in his place but allegedly remained absent from duty at the judge's residence from July 14, without providing any information. The allegations are significant given judge Diwakar's judicial record. He took charge as additional district and sessions judge, Fast Track Court-3, in Muzaffarnagar on November 29, 2025, and has since been hearing pending murder cases. Judge Diwakar shot into the national spotlight in 2022 after ordering a videographic survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex in Varanasi in connection with a suit filed by five Hindu women seeking daily worship rights at the Shringar Gauri Sthal near the western wall of the mosque complex. He has awarded death sentences to 22 convicts in 10 cases in four months between April and August this year. During his earlier posting in Bareilly, Diwakar awarded 13 death sentences. Responding to the allegations, Muzaffanagar police on its official X page stated, 'It is hereby informed that the security personnel assigned to the Judge had proceeded on leave. Accordingly, an alternative security personnel was deployed in his place. Upon his return from leave, the said security personnel has been reinstated on security duty for the Judge"....
