JHANSI, Aug. 29 -- An audio clip purportedly featuring jailed history-sheeter Virendra Rajput threatening to kill a local trader has gone viral, prompting police to register a case and begin investigations.The 50-second recording, in Bundelkhandi dialect, allegedly carries Rajput's voice targeting Anil Kumar Jain, a motor parts dealer from Pahadi Chungi under Chirgaon police station area.According to the complaint, Rajput, a resident of Pratap Dera, has been demanding extortion money from Jain. The trader had earlier lodged a case against him, after which Rajput was injured in an encounter with Jhansi police's special operations group. Jain alleged that on August 8, Rajput called him from inside jail and threatened to kill him and his family. In the audio, the accused is heard blaming Jain for his encounter and warning him to either meet him in prison or face being shot. The complainant further stated this was not the first such threat, but he had refrained from approaching the police earlier due to fear.On Wednesday night, an FIR was lodged on Jain's complaint."An FIR has been lodged and further investigations are going on. We are trying to ascertain whether the call was placed from inside the jail or during a court appearance.
