Jhansi, Oct. 5 -- A police inspector and four constables posted here have been booked at city Kotwali for allegedly taking Rs 6 lakh and two mobile phones from an event manager in November last year, following a court order. The FIR was registered on Friday, 42 days after court directed the police to initiate legal action. The complainant, Sharik Siddiqui, a resident of Panchvati Colony, alleged that he was forcibly taken to Kotwali police station by constables Rajesh Pal and Kapil Chahar, along with two unidentified policemen on evening of November 12, 2025. According to his complaint, Rs 6 lakh kept in scooter's storage compartment and two mobile phones were allegedly taken by constable Kapil Chahar, constable Rajesh Pal and inspector Rajesh Awasthi, who was present at police station. Sharik alleged that he was released after Rs 20,000 was taken from him. On August 20, Chief Judicial Magistrate Sudha Yadav directed registration of an FIR against policemen. The case was registered after a delay of 42 days. Circle officer (city) Priya Singh declined to share details of the FIR, saying the matter was subjudice.
