Jaunpur man booked for securing MBBS seat using fake documents
PRAYAGRAJ, June 12 -- A 23-year-old man from Jaunpur allegedly secured admission to the MBBS course at Dr Sonelal Patel Autonomous State Medical College by using forged documents. The irregularity came to light during the document verification process, following which a police case was registered against him.
The accused, Romit Raj, a resident of Gelhawa in Badlapur area of Jaunpur, had secured admission for MBBS course for the 2025-26 academic session through the UP NEET UG counselling process. However, during document verification, the college found that the address furnished by him in Jaunpur was incorrect and that the certificates submitted in support of his admission were forged.
Following a report from the Jaunpur district administration, the director general of medical education (DGME) ordered the immediate cancellation of Romit's admission.
Following this, the college principal lodged an FIR against Romit Raj for forgery and fraud.
A 24-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with an axe by her husband in Ajuha town in Kaushambi after she failed to meet dowry demands. The woman is in critical condition and has been referred to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj for treatment. According to police, the victim, Muskan, was married about four years ago to Shivram, a resident of Azmatpur locality in Ajuha. Her father alleged that Shivram often abused Muskan when drunk and also beat her. Police have registered a case against Shivram and his family under charges including dowry harassment and attempted murder. Police teams have been formed and raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.
A 16-year-old girl from the Kokhraj police station area in Kaushambi was allegedly abducted by a youth from her neighbourhood and taken to Delhi, where she was drugged and sexually assaulted, police said. According to a complaint filed by the girl's mother, the accused, identified as Ajay Patel, had been harassing the teenager for several months. On June 6, he allegedly lured her away and took her to Delhi. The victim managed to escape and returned home on June 8, after which she narrated the incident to her family. A case has been registered under charges including kidnapping, sexual assault and relevant sections of the SC/ST Act. A deputy SP has been assigned to investigate the matter. htc...
