PRAYAGRAJ, May 24 -- Police here on Saturday attached the house of alleged gangster and former Chaka block pramukh Dilip Mishra, a Samajwadi Party leader accused in the 2010 bomb attack on cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi' and several other serious criminal cases. Officials said the action, carried out under the Gangster Act, is part of an ongoing drive to seize properties allegedly acquired through illegal activities. The action was taken on the orders of the Police Commissioner's Court. A joint team of police and revenue officials led by ACP Karchana Sunil Singh and SDM Tapan Mishra carried out the proceedings and pasted an attachment notice at the property in Daud Nagar after making a public announcement. Police said the property was attached under Section 14(1) of the UP Gangster Act. Its government valuation is estimated at Rs 14.11 lakh, while the market value is said to be around Rs 43 lakh. Vivek Chandra Yadav, DCP Trans-Yamuna, said police investigations found that Mishra allegedly amassed wealth through organised criminal activities. A resident of Lavayan Kala village, Mishra allegedly has links with gangster Vijay Mishra. Police records show 54 criminal cases registered against him at different police stations, including charges of murder, attempt to murder, extortion, violations under the Goonda Act and Gangster Act, and harbouring criminals. Mishra was arrested near DPS School in 2020 and has since remained in judicial custody at Fatehgarh Central Jail. Officials said 12 immovable properties linked to him had already been attached earlier as part of the crackdown on his alleged criminal network....
