Jabalpur boat capsize toll rises to 11
Bhopal/ New Delhi, May 3 -- The death toll from the Narmada Queen capsize at Bargi Dam rose to 11 on Saturday after divers recovered two more bodies, including that of six-year-old Viraj Soni, as the boat's helmsman broke his silence and the victims' families gathered in Delhi to bury their dead.
Helmsman Mahesh Patel, facing termination and public criticism, said he had jumped only after all passengers had done so and had alerted the Boat Club control room when conditions worsened. "I ferried the boat six times a day for years. I never saw such an incident. It was nature's fury," he said.
