J'khand man accused of kidnapping 6-year-old girl held after encounter
VARANASI, Sept. 3 -- Pipri police arrested a man accused of kidnapping a six-year-old girl in Sonbhadra district following an encounter in the Dhauki Nala area during the early hours of Tuesday.
The accused has been identified as Chandresh Kumar Baitha, a wanted criminal with a reward of Rs 25,000 declared for his arrest in the kidnapping case. Police recovered an illegal pistol and cartridges from his possession. Circle officer, Pipri, Amit Kumar, stated that on August 31, a six-year-old girl was kidnapped in the Pipri area on the pretext of being given a toffee. Chandresh Kumar Baitha, a resident of Sangmatpur under Dhurki area, Garhwa district (Jharkhand), was wanted in connection with the incident.
Acting on an informer's tip-off, a police team laid siege near Dhauki Nala on Monday night. Upon realising he was surrounded, the accused opened fire on the police team. Police retaliated, injuring the accused with a bullet. He was arrested and admitted to the community health centre, Myorpur, where he is currently undergoing treatment. A .315 bore pistol and a cartridge were recovered from his possession. Police added that further legal action is being taken against the arrested accused.
Kaushambi police busted a gang of women robbers who used to steal jewellery in fairs and busy market areas in Kaushambi, on Tuesday.
As per reports, the gang has seven women who used to steal jewellery of women while two male accomplices accompanied them with a countrymade pistol. The police recovered 19 stolen mangalsutras, and 5 surgical blades from women members of the gang besides a countrymade pistol and cartridges from two men.
According to ASP Rajesh Kumar, a team of Saini police station while carrying out routine checking duty on Tuesday signalled an autorickshaw to stop. There were seven women and two men in the auto rickshaw. Seeing the police, one of the men of the gang tried to run away. On suspicion police chased the man and caught him and recovered a pistol of 315 bore and a live cartridge from him.
The ASP further informed that during interrogation, one of the women Saroj, was found to be the leader of the gang. The accused informed police that they all belonged to the same area and used to visit crowded places like fairs and temples. In busy areas they used to cut the mangalsutra from the neck of women with a blade. The accused admitted that they had stolen 19 mangalsutras from the Rahmal Baba fair of Hussainganj.
Police on Tuesday arrested three individuals accused of murdering a youth in Belwar village, under the Sujanganj police station area of Jaunpur district, on Monday.
According to police, a land dispute between two parties in the village escalated. On Tuesday, one side, armed with sticks, attacked Narendra Kumar Patel, 22. Narendra Kumar, along with his uncle, brother, and two sisters, sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to the hospital, where Narendra succumbed to his injuries, police reported.
Based on a complaint filed by Narendra's relatives, a case under relevant sections of the BNS was registered against three named persons and six unknown individuals, a senior police officer stated.
ASP (rural) Aatish Kumar Singh confirmed that all three named accused have been arrested. Five to six suspects have also been detained and are currently being interrogated....
