IRS officer's wife files plaint, seeks police action
LUCKNOW, June 1 -- In a fresh development in the ongoing controversy involving two senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers, joint commissioner servant Yogendra Kumar Mishra's wife Neha Dwivedi has submitted a formal written complaint to the commissioner of police, Lucknow. Mishra has already been booked by the Lucknow police in connection with the alleged clash.
In her complaint, Dwivedi alleged that her husband was assaulted and threatened by Gaurav Garg, an IRS officer, during an altercation at the Income Tax office in Lucknow on May 29, 2025.
Dwivedi, who is said to be an officer in the transport department, visited the commissioner of police's office in Lucknow on Saturday and gave the complaint. According to the letter, a copy of which HT has seen, Dwivedi wrote, "Mishra was abused and attacked by Gaurav Garg I.R.S in Income Tax office, Lucknow on May 29, 25, in response to which he hit my husband's ring."
She further mentioned her husband's complaint being filed online stating, "Sir, you may also take cognizance of the fact that the facts related to the above incident have already been sent to you on email by my husband. It has been reported. Therefore, you are requested to take cognizance of the above facts and direct the police station in-charge, Hazratganj. Lucknow, to take appropriate action."
Meanwhile, a forensic team inspected the scene of the alleged incident late on May 30 night, according to the police. The team collected samples of broken glass and blood from the spot. The investigating officer will record the statement of senior officers Richa Rastogi, in whose room the incident allegedly took place, and Shaurya Shashwat Shukla, who was present at the scene. ACP Hazratganj Vikas Jaiswal said, "The room in which the dispute took place has been sealed. The CCTV camera footage has been sought from the department."
Meanwhile, Garg was discharged from hospital, police said.
Mishra on Saturday raised serious security concerns via a public statement on social media platform X, appealing for urgent police protection for himself and his family. He cited alleged threats that have now extended to his wife and minor daughter....
