Irrigation dept issuesnotice to encroacherson its land in Dalibagh
LUCKNOW, June 19 -- The UP irrigation department has issued notices to people allegedly occupying its land illegally in Dalibagh, directing them to remove the encroachments within seven days or face eviction action under the Northern India Canal and Drainage Act, 1873.
According to the notice, unauthorised occupation of irrigation department embankment land is a punishable offence. The department warned that if the encroachments are not removed within the stipulated period, it will clear the land and recover the cost of the exercise from the encroachers.
Mukesh Kumar Vaishya, executive engineer of the Sharda Canal Division, said the action is part of an anti-encroachment drive against illegal slums and other unauthorised occupations on irrigation land in the area. "The action is against illegal slums and encroachments on irrigation department land. It has nothing to do with the flats built by the LDA."
The clarification came after confusion arose when one of the notices was pasted on the wall of the Sardar Patel Residential Scheme housing complex in Dalibagh....
