VARANASI, Oct. 2 -- The international day of older persons (IDOP) 2026 was observed by the National Centre of Ageing (NCA), Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, on Thursday (October 1). This year's theme, "The Age of Longevity: Rethinking Systems for Longer Lives," emphasises the need to adapt healthcare and social systems to the growing longevity and changing needs of older people. An awareness programme was organised in the OPD under the leadership of Prof Anup Singh, nodal officer, National Centre of Ageing, with participation from NPHCE and the department of geriatric medicine students and staff.
