LUCKNOW, July 12 -- Director general of medical and health Dr Pawan Kumar Arun on Saturday conducted a surprise inspection of Lok Bandhu Raj Narayan Hospital, a day after a power outage forced doctors to treat emergency patients using mobile phone torches. Chief medical superintendent Dr PC Tiwari said the DG inspected various wards and directed the additional director (electrical) to complete all pending electrical repair work at the earliest. Inspecting the hospital's generator and inverter backup systems, Dr Arun sought an explanation from officials for the failure of the emergency power backup. Dissatisfied with their response, he ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident. Calling the failure of the emergency power backup unacceptable, Dr Arun directed officials to rectify all deficiencies in the hospital's power backup system within seven days.
