PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 12 -- Director of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla, Prof Himanshu Chaturvedi on Friday said India's indigenous knowledge traditions had long been marginalised and eroded, though they could guide society and education and help address global challenges. Speaking at a two-day international seminar at Ishwar Saran PG College, he called for new research and scholarship on the subject. Indian Sociological Society president prof DR Sahu said tribal heritage could complement modernity. Prof Daniel Rycroft of the University of East Anglia, UK, said indigenous communities held valuable ecological and social knowledge and called for pluralistic and collaborative study.
