India still world'sfastest-growingeconomy: Rajnath
Lucknow, June 7 -- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that while many countries face economic uncertainty, India continues to stand out as the "world's fastest-growing major economy".
Singh made the point about the economy in a post on X and also spoke at the 'Prabuddh Jan Samvad' programme in the state capital,
"India's economy grew by 7.7 per cent in FY 2025-26, with growth accelerating to 7.8 per cent in the fourth quarter, underscoring its resilience and underlying strength built over the last 12 years through the mantra of Reform, Perform and Transform," Singh said in his post on X.
"At a time when many countries are facing economic uncertainty, India continues to stand out as the world's fastest-growing major economy," he added.
Meanwhile, interacting with prominent citizens at the interactive session organised at Hardoi Road, Singh said India's reputation at the international level is much stronger than before today.
India's voice is being heard effectively on global platforms and the country's respect has increased under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, he said.
He noted that war and conflict in many parts of the world currently affect the global economy, causing inflation rates to rise excessively in many countries, but India has succeeded in keeping inflation under control through better economic management.
He said that in the last few years, about 25 crore people have come out of poverty, which proves the success of the country's development and welfare schemes.
He also asserted that Lucknow, once considered lagging in the race for development, has established its identity as a world-class city today.
The Lucknow of 10-15 years ago and today's Lucknow look completely transformed, he said.
He added that when investors come from abroad to India and visit Lucknow, they appreciate the vast changes that have taken place in the city....
