New Delhi, April 18 -- India and China have held their first bilateral consultations on the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in New Delhi, against the backdrop of efforts by both sides to normalise bilateral ties following a period of unprecedented strains in the relations. Both countries are key players in the SCO, which is currently chaired by Kyrgyzstan. India and China have taken a number of steps to bolster their relations after reaching an understanding in October 2024 to end a military stand-off on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) that lasted more than four years and took ties to a six-decade low. India's SCO national coordinator Alok Dimri and China's national coordinator Yan Wenbin led the two delegations at the bilateral consultations held during April 16-17. The two sides exchanged views on implementing the SCO leaders' decisions and the future course of the grouping, the external affairs ministry said in a readout.
