LUCKNOW/AYODHYA, July 30 -- The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has initiated an administrative restructuring to manage the expanding operations of the Ram Temple, creating the new post of secretary and appointing temple construction project manager Jagdish Aphale to oversee its day-to-day administration. The Trust's decision will be formally approved at its executive meeting on September 2. Aphale, an engineer who has overseen the temple construction project, will report to interim general secretary Krishna Mohan. While he will function as an office bearer, he will not be a member of the Trust. Similarly, the chief executive officer (CEO), whose appointment is still pending, will also serve as an office bearer without being inducted as a Trust member. Interim general secretary Krishna Mohan confirmed that Aphale's name has been proposed for the post. He said the process to appoint an official spokesperson for the Trust is also underway, with several names under consideration. A native of Pune, Maharashtra, Aphale is associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and is an IIT Bombay alumnus with BTech and MTech degrees in electrical engineering. He worked with several multinational companies, including assignments in Europe and the United States, before returning to India after retirement. Following the Supreme Court's verdict on the Ram Temple and the start of construction, he was deputed as honorary project manager. Since then, he has been residing at the Teerth Kshetra Bhavan in Ayodhya. When contacted, Aphale said he would speak to the media only after September 2. Krishna Mohan said the Trust has received around 5,200 applications for the CEO's post. A committee headed by retired judge Pramod Kohli is scrutinising and shortlisting candidates. As the selection process is expected to take time, the Trust decided to create the secretary's post to oversee routine administrative work. All appointments will take effect after executive approval on September 2. Krishna Mohan said irregularities in the darshan pass system had caused inconvenience to devotees and would be addressed after the September 2 meeting. Somesh Anand, who was in charge of the pass system at the Teerth Yatri Seva Kendra, has been relieved of the responsibility and transferred to Teerth Kshetra Puram at Bag Bijaisi. No replacement has been appointed so far, and the existing staff will jointly manage the system until further orders....
