Husband shoots wife dead, dies by suicide
AGRA, June 6 -- A 23-year-old woman was allegedly shot dead by her husband, who later died by suicide, at a house in Mathura on Thursday night. The couple had been living separately and were involved in a matrimonial dispute pending in court, police said. The incident took place in Surya Colony under the Satoha police outpost area within the jurisdiction of Highway police station.
According to R K Singh, superintendent of police (City), Mathura, police received information about a firing incident late on Thursday night. On reaching the spot, officers found the bodies of a man and a woman with firearm injuries.
Police said preliminary investigation suggests that the man shot his wife before taking his own life. The couple had married around five years ago in a love marriage. However, differences emerged soon after the wedding and they had been living separately for some time. A matrimonial dispute between them was also pending in court, police said. The woman, a resident of Datia district in Madhya Pradesh, had arrived in Mathura about six days ago and was staying with a friend in Surya Colony on Goverdhan Road. She was reportedly planning to work at a beauty parlour and settle in the city.
