PRAYAGRAJ, June 15 -- Marking World Blood Donor Day, a series of blood donation camps were organised across Prayagraj on Sunday, drawing enthusiastic participation from government officials, social organisations, healthcare institutions and security personnel. The camps collectively generated hundreds of units of blood while spreading awareness about voluntary blood donation. One of the major events was organised by Blue Cross Organisation at the Blood Bank of Tej Bahadur Sapru (Beli) Hospital, where District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma donated blood and encouraged people, especially youngsters, to come forward for the noble cause. Noted social worker and blood donation campaigner Rajeev Mishra donated blood for the 116th time during the camp. Around 40 units of blood were collected. Several volunteers, including advocate Gyan Prakash Ojha, Akhilesh Kumar, Gyanendra Prasad Mahant, Avinash Jaiswal, DS Pandey, Katyayani Singh, Ram Bahadur Singh, Ujjwal Mishra and others, actively participated in the drive. Mishra, who has donated blood more than 115 times and travelled extensively across India and neighbouring countries to promote voluntary blood donation, was lauded for his sustained efforts in creating awareness among youth. At the Allahabad Nursing Home Association Blood Bank in Civil Lines, 123 units of blood were collected. Blood Bank Director Nikunj Kumar Agrawal described blood donation as an invaluable gift that offers hope and life to needy patients. Several doctors and social workers participated in the event. The Prayagraj Tent Caterers and Event Association also organised a blood donation camp with the support of New Apna Charitable Blood Bank, where office-bearers and members donated blood and pledged to continue such campaigns in the future. Meanwhile, personnel of the 101 Rapid Action Force (RAF) at Shantipuram participated in a voluntary blood donation camp organised with Krishna Blood Centre.
